Obituary
Sofia Marttinen passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Wednesday August 5, 2015 at the age of 86. She is predeceased by her daughter Lisa (2014) and her husband Taimo (2005). Beloved "Mummu" of son Thomas (Susan) and grandsons Michael Laan and Alexander and Aaron Marttinen.
Thank you to all those, in Victoria and in Ottawa, who cared for Sofia during her brief illness. Thanks also to her friends and family everywhere for their visits, calls, messages, and help.

My heart is saddened by the loss of my dear sweet friend Sofia (Eira). God lay his healing hands on the family during this sad time. Sofia is sleeping now, out of pain and waiting for Our Lords return. Oh, won't that be a wonderful day when we're all reunited with family and friends in Heaven. I pray that is very soon! ReplyDeleteMy sincerest condolences to Thomas at the loss of his mother and Susan her mother in law. I have been blessed to have known Sofia for these past few years of her living in Ottawa and attending Bilberry Creek Baptist Church. She participated in being a greeter, her words were "once people are welcomed by me they won't want to leave". Sofia also faithfully folded the bulletins on a weekly basis and brought baked goods to any event we had and to the staff. We grew to love and adore her and will miss her tremendously.
