Obituary:



TOBIN, Innis – Passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Heart Institute on January 28, 2013 at the age of 82.  Survived by his loving children Debbie Tobin and Michael Tobin (Densye Braid).  Cherished grandfather of Cassie and Jack.  He leaves behind his dear friend and loving companion Shirley Noonan and her family.  Predeceased by his late wife Marjorie Tobin (nee August), parents Patrick and Theresa Tobin, siblings Frank, Gerald and Eileen.  He will be sadly missed by dear friends Doreen and Allan Ward.  The family would like to send a special thank you to the caring staff at the Ottawa Heart Institute.  A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11am at Our Lady of Visitation Church (5338 Bank St, Ottawa, ON).  Friends can pay their respects at the church from 10am until the time of service.  Reception to follow.  A burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. In loving memory of Jacques Germain - Jacques Germain passed away at Montfort Hospital on January 23, 2013 at the age of 88. Cherished husband of the late Florence Veilleux and loving father of  Pauline (Jean Bissonnette), Lucille (Richard Gaudet), Lise (Younès Sadeg) and Jacqueline (Steve Stafford). He leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Sylvie, Éric, Jean-Sébastien, Caroline, Myriam, Leila, Sabrina, Tracy, David et James and 7 great grandchildren: Adam, Eva, Tarik, Amina, Olivia, Jonah et George. Predeceased by his brothers Pierre et Jean. Jacques Germain was a journalist by profession. He started his journalism career in Kapuskasing for Le Canadien newspaper and then became correspondent for Le Droit.  In 1963, he was offered a full time job as a news reporter for Le Droit and the whole family moved to Ottawa. A few years later he accepted an offer to work for Radio-Canada in Ottawa. He was a television news reporter for CBOFT and then head of morning radio news at CBOF-FM. Jacques was an artist, musician and classical music lover. Heritage Manor residents often heard him practice his flute, but his favorite instrument was the clarinet. In fact, he was a clarinetist for the Canadian Army Band in Toronto. After his retirement he did many paintings and produced beautiful marquetry. He spent many hours reading, painting and drawing.  Jacques Germain was a member of the Club Richelieu Laporte and of the Centre Pauline Charron. Friends may visit family at the First Memorial Funeral Services - Fairview Chapel, 259 St. Patrick Street, Ottawa, on Friday, February 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at 11a.m. St-Louis-Marie-de-Montfort church, 749 Trojan Street, Ottawa. A reception will follow in 
the basement of the church. For those who wish, a donation to Development and Peace (www.devp.org ) would be appreciated.

À la douce mémoire de Jacques Germain - Jacques Germain est décédé à l’hôpital Montfort, le 23 janvier 2013, à l’âge de 88 ans et six mois. Fils de Charles Lucien Germain et de Juliette Allard, il était l’époux bien-aimé de feu Florence Veilleux. Il laisse dans le deuil ses filles Pauline (Jean Bissonnette), Lucille (Richard Gaudet), Lise (Younès Sadeg) et Jacqueline (Steve Stafford); ses 10 petits-enfants Sylvie, Éric, Jean-Sébastien, Caroline, Myriam, Leila, Sabrina, Tracy, David et James; et ses 7 arrière-petits-enfants Adam, Eva, Tarik, Amina, Olivia, Jonah et George. Il fut prédécédé par ses frères Pierre et Jean. Jacques Germain était journaliste. Il a commencé sa carrière à Kapuskasing, au journal Le Canadien, et ensuite comme correspondant pour Le Droit. En 1963, Le Droit l’engage à temps plein et toute le famille s’installe à Ottawa. uelques années plus tard, il accepte un poste à Radio-Canada.  Il y exercera plusieurs fonctions dont celle de reporteur à CBOFT et chef de pupitre à CBOF-FM. Il était un véritable artiste, musicien et amateur de musique classique. Les residents du Manoir Héritage, son dernier lieu de residence, l’ont souvent entendu pratiquer sa flute à bec. Durant les années 40, Jacques Germain était clarinettiste dans la fanfare de l’armée.  À sa retraite, il a peint de nombreaux tableaux et faisait de la marquetterie et du chantournage. JacquesGermain était membre du Club Richelieu Laporte ainsi que du Centre Pauline Charron. La famille recevra parents et amis à la maison funéraire Fairview, 259, rue St-Patrick, à Ottawa, le vendredi 1er février 2013 ,de 18 h à 21 h. Les funérailles auront lieu en presence des cendres le samedi 2 février 2013, à 11 h, en l’église St-Louis-Marie-de-Montfort, 749, rue Trojan, à Ottawa. Une réception suivra au sous-sol de l’église. Vos marques de sympathie peuvent se traduire par un don à l’organisme Développement et Paix.

Obituary:

MOSS, Marjorie (neé Whillans) - November 14, 1923 - January 16, 2013, wartime stenographer, stay-at-home mother, superb cook, talented seamstress, hostess extraordinaire, party organizer, gifted gardener, long time member of the Anglican Church, passed away suddenly at Grace Manor in Ottawa in her 89th year.  Survived by her daughters Susan Margaret, Judith Ann (John Bishop) and Maureen Elizabeth (Bruce Stoskopf), granddaughters Karen and Andrea Stoskopf, her older sister Elinor and by Aunts Moira Moss of Toronto and Aunt Grace Whillans of Ottawa.  Predeceased by her husband Douglas Arthur Moss (d.2004) of Paris whom she married in 1946 after a wartime romance, father Alex Whillans (d.1957) of Ottawa and mother Isobel Murphy (d.1962) of Peterborough, older brother Dr. James Whillans (d.1999) and younger sister Lois (Peter) Newcombe (d. 2008) of Ottawa.  She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.  Marjorie had a warm, generous, happy nature and she will be missed by all who knew her.  The family would like to thank the staff at Bridge St. Retirement Home in Belleville and of Grace Manor in Ottawa for their excellent care. We would also like to thank friends and relatives for their ongoing support.  Friends can pay their respects to the family at a visitation on Thursday, January 24 from 4p.m. until 7p.m. at Burke Funeral Home (613-968-6968) - 150 Church Street, Belleville.  A Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, 201 Church St, Belleville on Friday, January 25 at 1 p.m.  Reception to follow.  Interment at Belleville Cemetery on January 26 at 10 a.m.  Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice.
